Get started

Install on Windows

MiuWave runs on Windows 10 and 11. The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen asks on the first run — this is expected.

Coming soon

MiuWave is not released yet. The steps below describe the upcoming installer.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or later.
  • WebView2 Runtime (usually already present on Windows 10/11).
  • A working engine: Soniox (API key, ~$0.12/hour), OpenAI Realtime (API key, ~$4/hour) or SenseVoice — the offline engine on Windows, no key needed for speech recognition, one-time model download of ~163 MB. Local MLX runs only on Apple Silicon Macs.

Installation steps

  1. Download the installer From the release page, download MiuWave_<ver>_x64-setup.exe.
  2. Allow it through SmartScreen When you see the Windows protected your PC screen, click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Run the installer Click Next, keep the default install folder, and click Next until it finishes. Tick Run MiuWave and click Finish.
  4. Choose a translation mode and take the tour On first launch the app asks you to choose a translation mode, then a short in-app tour walks you through the main buttons.
  5. Enter an API key and start Open Cài đặt (Settings, Ctrl ,) → Engine dịch (Translation engine), paste your key and click Test. Getting a key works the same as on macOS: see Get an API key. Then follow Quick start.
System audio without a virtual cable

The Hệ thống (System) source captures everything playing on your PC (via WASAPI) without installing a virtual cable. The Mic source listens to the microphone; Cả hai (Both) mixes the two. Keys are stored in Windows Credential Manager.

OCR language packs for screenshot translation

Chụp màn hình để dịch (Screenshot to translate; F3, or ⋯ → Chụp màn hình để dịch) uses the OCR built into Windows, so it can only read languages whose OCR pack is installed. When a pack is missing, the app says “Windows chưa có gói OCR cho ngôn ngữ này…” (Windows has no OCR pack for this language). To add one:

  1. Open Windows Settings → Time & Language → Language & region.
  2. Click Add a language and choose the language you need to read (for example Japanese).
  3. Make sure Optical character recognition is ticked in the optional features, then install.
  4. Capture again.

The OCR language follows the source language; you can set it separately in Cài đặt (Settings) → Dịch nhanh (Quick Translate) → Ngôn ngữ chữ trong ảnh (Text language in image).
