Troubleshooting
Common problems and quick fixes. Don't see yours? Report a bug from Settings → About.
General
No translation, no text appears
- macOS: check that the Screen & System Audio Recording permission is on, then reopen the app.
- Check the API key of the selected engine in Cài đặt (Settings) → Engine dịch (Translation engine); click Test to confirm the connection.
- Make sure audio is actually playing on your computer, and that the audio source (Hệ thống (System) / Mic / Cả hai (Both)) matches what you want to translate.
“No API key” or “Invalid API key” error
Go to Cài đặt (Settings) → Engine dịch (Translation engine) and paste the key for the selected engine (how to get a key). For Soniox, the key needs the Temporary API keys permission and real-time speech recognition; without them, the app shows a specific message.
Higher cost than expected
Check which engine you are using: OpenAI Realtime costs about $4/hour versus about $0.12/hour for Soniox. Turn on the long session warning so the app asks to stop after a long silence.
“No microphone found” error
Your computer has no built-in microphone (a Mac mini, for example). Plug in an external one: USB, headset or AirPods.
OpenAI Realtime
The engine option is dimmed
No OpenAI key has been entered, or the key has the wrong format (it must start with sk-). Paste a new key and click Test.
The “Two-way” button disappeared
This is expected: OpenAI Realtime doesn't support two-way translation. Use Soniox (or Local on Apple Silicon Macs) if you need it.
Qwen: WebSocket error
| Symptom | Common cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
WebSocket error as soon as you click Start | The key was created in a region other than Singapore | Create a new key in the Singapore region (see how) |
| Error after about 5–10 seconds | The key's region is right, but the Qwen Live model is not enabled | Model Studio → Model Square → enable qwen3-livetranslate-flash-realtime |
| Translates one sentence, then stops | The source language is set to auto-detect | Choose the source language explicitly under Source (for example Japanese) |
| Intermittent errors | The network blocks dashscope-intl.aliyuncs.com (corporate firewall, VPN) | Try another network (4G/5G) or turn off the VPN |
Windows
SmartScreen blocks the installer
Click More info → Run anyway. See Install on Windows.
System audio is not captured
Make sure audio is playing on the PC. Some applications use exclusive audio mode — try a different audio source.
The app doesn't open
Make sure WebView2 Runtime is installed. Windows 10/11 usually has it; older versions need to install it from Microsoft.
Screenshot translation reports a missing OCR pack
The message “Windows chưa có gói OCR cho ngôn ngữ này…” (Windows has no OCR pack for this language) means you need to install the language pack. See OCR language packs.
Quick Translate and OCR on macOS
F2 translates the clipboard instead of the selected text
MiuWave doesn't have the Accessibility permission yet. Click Mở cài đặt (Open settings) in the Quick Translate window and turn MiuWave on (see how).
F3 says “Cần quyền Ghi màn hình…” (Screen Recording permission needed)
Click Mở cài đặt (Open settings), turn MiuWave on under Screen & System Audio Recording, then reopen the app.
Text-to-speech (TTS)
- No sound? Check that the Đọc bản dịch (Read translation aloud) button is on, the system volume, and the Thiết bị phát (Output device).
- TTS button dimmed? You are in two-way translation, or using OpenAI Realtime / Qwen.
- Edge TTS not working? Check your internet connection.
- Google TTS errors? Check that the key is correct and the Text-to-Speech API is enabled.
- Microphone picking up the voice? Lower the TTS volume, play it through headphones, or pause the session while it reads.
Local MLX
After some updates, the app asks you to run the Local setup again to add new components; models already downloaded are reused, so you don't download the 5 GB again. Local runs only on Apple Silicon Macs — on Windows or Intel Macs, use SenseVoice to translate offline.
